This year, we will revive one of Hammonton’s oldest Italian Catholic traditions, the Feast of St. Anthony the Abbot (Sant’Antonio Abate). The devotion to Sant’Antonio Abate in Hammonton dates back to the earliest wave of Italian immigration from Gesso, Messina, Sicilia, as Sant’Antonio Abate is the patron of the village. The St. Anthony the Abbot Society (Società Sant’Antonio Abate) is one of Hammonton’s oldest religious societies, though the group has fallen dormant in recent years. This year’s Feast will mark the first step in reviving this tradition.
Please join us on Friday, January 17, 2025 at St. Joseph’s Church (226 French St, Hammonton) at 6:00 PM for Mass. A social/dinner will follow a the Knights of Columbus Pallotti Council No. 3471 Hall (226 Pratt St, Hammonton).
